CC Settles Down As Yanks Cruise

CC got into a rhythm after stuggling in the first few innings.

Things were looking rather familiar after CC Sabathia had given up 3 runs in 3 innings, but he bounced back to get the final 15 of the last 17 batters he faced.  The Yankees won by a final score of 8-3, and much of the offensive production came from the most unlikely of sources.  It was Chris Stewart, who got his first start of the year behind the plate, and he also drove in 3 runs at the plate.  Stewart was signed by the Yankees late this spring, in an effort to get a solid defensive catcher.  He caught and called a good game, and also came up with clutch hits. What more can you ask for?

CC Steady- After giving up 3 runs through 3 innings, the ace of the Yankees staff showed what fans should expect for the rest of the year. “Larry(Rothschild) just told me to get on top of my fastball, which was what I needed to hear,” said Sabathia, who retired 13 in a row, and 15 of his last 17 batters. CC threw 112 pitches, which is a rather large amount for April, but it was desperately needed due to the work the bullpen has been getting lately.

DJ Still Hot- The captain drove in 2 runs, one on a sac fly, and the other on a line drive to right field.  With the hit, jeter now has 11 hits to right field, more than any other right handed hitter in baseball.

Jones Dealdly Against Leftys- Andruw Jones got another start as a left handed pitcher(Francisco Liriano) was on the mound.  He did not dissapoint, hitting a solo homerun in the 5th.

Look Ahead- The Yankees now look to take the 4th and final game of the series, as they send Hiroki Kuroda to the mound.

cc dumped the finesse, and attacked the zone later on. Getting ahead, keeping down the pitch count, and working quickly are the keys to a pitcher’s success.

cc quit the finesse nonsense, and started getting aggressive in the zone. He was getting ahead, which is the key to any pitcher’s success.
